CTC is seeking an Industrial Hygiene professional in support of a program titled the Voluntary Protection Program Center of Excellence (VPP CX) sponsored by the Department of Defense (DoD). This program was created as a direct result of the Secretary of Defense’s goal of reducing preventable mishaps in the military by 75% by 2008. The Mission of the VPP CX is to assist DoD Installation Commanders and Activity Directors in achieving Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Star status. In serving the mission, the successful candidate will provide overall IH support for DoD VPP implementation and consulting activities. Direct and remote support to nominated installations and activities across the U.S. will be required. This support would include site visits, preparing gap analysis, action plans and follow-up support. Up to 50% travel may be required. Successful candidates will interact with base commanders, safety staff, on-site laborers as well as other VPP CX team members.

The qualified candidate will support the VPP CX with all IH related functions, develop IH implementation strategies based on client needs and requirements, validate IH and Occupational Health program effectiveness, provide IH subject matter expertise to CTC and the VPP CX, and develop IH strategies to assist installations with VPP implementation. The selected applicant will provide technical leadership to lead and/or participate in efforts to leverage safety and VPP project capabilities to expand and develop involvement in existing and/or new areas of business, ensure performance based business development, and develop and/or assist in development of strategies and implementation of strategies for expanding safety and VPP business. He/She will contribute to technical literature through presentations and publications as requested and lead, communicate and assure implementation and application of core business standards. The ideal candidate will be able to participate in professional organizations, demonstrate a positive, respectful, and professional demeanor and communicate effectively and efficiently. The successful individual will understand the relationship and impact of revenue and direct and overhead costs, plan, direct, and control activities within areas of responsibility to accomplish budgeted financial objectives, participate in the interview process and provide input for inclusion in Staffing Requests, while identifying potential new hires and identifying training needs and mentoring lower level personnel, especially in areas of technical expertise.

The selected applicant must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree plus 4-6 years of directly related Safety & Health experience, including safety program implementation or evaluation experience. He/She will also provide Industrial Hygiene surveys. Excellent communication, presentation, and team skills are essential.
